WELL
DONE THIS WEEK TO…
Damien Clark for working so hard independently during maths lessons….and
he was brilliant at remembering everything he did! Well and truly lodged
in his long term memory-brilliant! Leo Seal has also impressed Mrs. Turner
by telling her all about Samuel Pepys! Wow! An historian in our midst!!
Mr. Martin said that Connor Storr has done some excellent work using the
column method for adding! (Sounds rather tricky to me!!) and Chloe Henman
has done a super retelling of the story of Rama and Sita! In Year 6 Bradley
Edwards has been making a really good contribution to discussions about
questions and Miss. Brakespear would also like a mention for Bradley,
along with Alex Taplin, and Stephanie Wardenier who have been using some
brilliant strategies when they have been doing their maths work with her-and
not just for this week but when they were working before the end of last
term too! Excellent!! And in Year 5 Courtney Garvey has made a great start
to the term in lessons-answer questions, contributing ideas and using
what she had already learnt last term! Good Girl! Max Magner has also
made a good start, working hard and making good use of his. Rather clever,
ideas in class! Keep it going guys!!! Mrs. File says that Aimee-Lea Bourne
has done some fantastic homework-and Aimee-Lea showed me everything she
had done and really is super stuff-fabulous work Aimee-Lea!! Finally a
HUGE well done to Eleanor Bradley and Nicki Cragg represented the school
and sang at the village Christmas Celebrations and Steven Cragg who read
a Christmas poem! They were absolutely brilliant (and Steven totally stole
the evening!!)!!!! Thank you!
Winning house this week: Lady Jane AND Newton each with 49 points!!
Golden Duster to Class 2 this week!!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
Welcome to Mrs. Tina Wood teaching with Mrs. Turner in Class 1! Mrs. Wood
is training to be a teacher (although she has worked in schools for many
years-and still not been put off!!) and she will be with us all of this
term, teaching with Mrs. Turner and gradually taking over more teaching
herself. Mrs. Wood comes with excellent references from her previous teaching
placement and we are sure she will be very successful!
Mrs. Turner would like some ‘junk’ boxes for modelling with
(!?!-making models with!) so if you have any empty kitchen roll holders,
cereal boxes et. Please take them to Class 1-I will empty my recycling
bin and bring it all in!!!
You will find attached to this letter a bag for materials-instructions
will be with the bag but basically fill it with materials such as unwanted
clothes etc. return to school and the school receives funds according
to how much we return-so a good opportunity to make good use of that after
Christmas/new year organisation clear out!!
The ISP Programme continues and next week Mr. Craven comes in to start
lesson observations and monitor children’s learning. Mrs. Turner
and I will be attending training for Literacy and Numeracy leadership
in schools and Mrs. Hagan has already been to talk to us about the classroom
as a learning environment and ‘working walls’! Governors are
also being very proactive about monitoring all areas of school management
and leadership, including finance, classroom visits, health and safety
in school, staffing etc. Remember! If you want to be a Governor there
are still vacancies for Parent Governors!!
