WELL DONE THIS WEEK TO…

Hallam Hilton who just missed last week’s newsletter! Mrs. Hughes asked that he had a mention for all the help he had given her last week. Every day he has offered help with all kinds of grotty tasks-what a gentleman!! A HUGE Well Done to ALL of CLASS 2 for their VERY informative assembly on Hinduism-not only did we learn something about another religion but we also saw some super artwork done in pastels! Brilliant and thank you to Mrs. Bunting for all her hard work too! Mrs. Greenfield would like a mention for Dale Clements because he wrote such a ‘GREAT’ newspaper report!! Mrs. Greenfield was really impressed (and was telling us all about it in the staffroom!). Mrs. Howitt says that Jacob Wardenier should be mentioned for his work in class-Mrs. Bunting has also been very pleased at how hard he is working-good boy Jacob!! In Year 5 Scott Marsh has been doing some brilliant self evaluations of his work in order to make his work really really interesting to the reader-he knew just what he was going to change for his final draft! (When I told one of the literacy consultants she was so excited she said I need to have a tape recorder there!!! Not sure about that but it was all impressive stuff!). Emma Davies has a sticker for the effort and thought she put into trying to build up a feeling of suspense in her story!! She used lots of descriptive language and finished on bit of a ‘cliff-hanger’!! And finally in Year 5 Billy Wallis went off to change improper fractions to mixed fractions before his group had got to that area of work-just thought he would do something whilst I helped someone else and worked it out himself!!! Wow!

SCHOOL CHAT!

What a lot of bags were taken away yesterday!! There was a mountain of them in the corner of the hall-we were almost in danger of being taken over by them!! Many thanks to Mrs. Bradley who organised everything-the gentleman who collected them commented on how many a small school had collected! Thank you to everyone who took the opportunity of a ‘sort out’ (it was bliss to be rid of all those odd socks!!) and special thanks to those people who were thoughtful enough to bring back their empty bags for someone else to use-thanks!

Unfortunately Mr. Craven was unable to visit us this week as he had bit of an urgent situation in his school to deal with but will be with us next week when parents can visit to watch Numeracy! Mr. Craven is the Headteacher Consultant leader on the ISP Package B Programme! (Looked that up!!) He supports the school especially the leadership aspects throughout the ISP programme, and has been extremely supportive in tailoring the programme to fit the needs of OUR small school. We also has a very interesting staff meeting (PDM-Professional Development Meeting!) with Mrs. Hagan on the learning environment and especially learning walls (display). Mrs, Hagan will be in school (twice!) next week to monitor the impact of our experiences with her.

Mrs. Moss has been in school for her ‘Literacy’ visit. Just as teachers have areas of leadership responsibility, so do Governors. NOT to inspect or look at individual children’s work (confidentiality), but to ask questions and to track standards!
