WELL DONE THIS WEEK TO…

Harrison Bradley in Class 1 and Tilly Wardenier! Harrison has been doing some fantastic observations in science which sounded very complicated when he told us about them-all about pushing and pulling!! Whilst Tilly has been getting on with her work, concentrating and remaining focused on her work and showing that she had understood everything she had done! Mrs. Turner and Mrs. Wood would also like ALL of Class 1 to have a sticker for their FANTASTIC assembly yesterday! I am very sorry I missed it but I was on a (not very exciting!) course and would much rather have been here! But I did go and ask Mrs. Wood how it went and she told me all about it-as did Class 1! Mrs. Greenfield would like a mention for Darian Connelly who has written a ‘brilliant’ poem demonstrating his point of view-very interesting! (And very tricky to put into a poem!). Joely Bullen has also impressed Mrs. Greenfield with her ‘ambitious use of vocabulary’ when she was writing her poem! Well done Joely-Mrs. Hagan was very impressed with your work too Joely! It is a struggle to really think of someone in year 5 as I have been really proud of ALL of them-especially during Mrs. Hagan’s visit but the two who have really shown HUGE progress in their effort and therefore the standard of their work are Max Magner and Emma Davies! Both have worked really hard-Max has not just worked hard but given his writing a lot of thought so as to engage the reader (!!) and Emma was told by Mrs. Hagan that her writing had the maturity of an adult! Wow! Also in Year 5, stickers for Nicki Cragg and Eleanor Bradley for being so helpful cleaning up all the pottery equipment on Wednesday-and this does not come from a teacher but from Amy Davies. So thank you to Amy for thinking enough of her class mates to want them acknowledged for their thoughtfulness (and not expecting a sticker for herself when she has also been very thoughtful!) Finally, I had a whisper that Billy Wallis not only entered a very big gymnastics competition with 75 competitions-which is pretty scary in itself-but came THIRD!!!! Definitely someone to watch in the future! When he is on the television we can say ‘we went to school with Billy’!!

Golden Duster this week goes to Year 5!!!

And the house with the most points is NEWTON with 37 points (thank you Alex Taplin)

SCHOOL CHAT!

Mrs. Hagan (consultant with the ISP team) was impressed with the work she saw on Monday and Wednesday in both literacy and Numeracy! She spent two mornings in and out of lessons in all classes and allowed year 5 to interview her about growing up in 2008 and opportunities for disabled youngsters (Mrs. Hagan’s teenage daughter has profound special needs).

Mrs Wood in Class 1 has lost her memory stick! It is a small grey stick, with a clear plastic coating about the size of a pen lid. PLEASE can you have a look at home and see if it is in a book bag, plimsoll bag or dropped it a lunch box even. It contains so much of her course work she would be VERY pleased and relieved (so would the rest of us and her family!) to have it back- Thank you!

Both Mrs. Hagen and Mr. Craven were impressed with the lessons they observed this week and the work staff had put into their teaching and all that goes with it-such as marking books, learning walls, planning lessons, questioning and answering techniques, and so the list goes on! So well done everyone!!

Sadly, for the children especially, only one parent came to our Numeracy morning, so we have copied one of the information sheets to go with the newsletter this week.
