WELL DONE THIS WEEK TO…

Class 1 for their super assembly! I am very sorry I was not there as I had to be at a meeting but I was told how very well behaved everyone was and the whole assembly went really well! Brilliant Class 1! In Mr. Martin’s class Chloe Henman and Connor Storr have both contributed lots of ideas during their literacy lessons about persuasive writing! Mr. Martin was very impressed with some of their comments! Stephanie Wardenier has impressed Miss. Howden with her fabulous use of ambitious vocabulary to make a story really interesting! Edward Chapman has also been doing some writing and apparently produced ‘a very individual piece of writing’ and Miss. Howden went on to say ‘Edward has great style’!! A literary mastermind in the making perhaps!?! Miss. Brakespear is sooooo pleased with her Year 2 and Year 3 Art Group! She says they have fantastic ideas for their ‘Perfect Pets’ and have done some wonderful drawings with beautiful colouring!! Mrs. Howitt is VERY pleased with the work her Quest literacy group has done-they have been reading with ‘fantastic’ dialogue and expression!! Dale Clements in particular has been working hard with Mrs. Howitt but this time doing some very tricky fractions! Well Done Dale! In Year 5 Eleanor Bradley has been very proactive with her homework-not just class work but also some additional research to support her classwork! Super job!! Orren Stainton had come back to school absolutely ‘on fire’ keen to learn!!! Keep that fire burning Orren!!! And William Billett has expressed some very good mathematical explanations!!! Finally at lunchtime, Rhiannon Forrester, Eden Steltner, William Billett and CJ Cadwallander always make positive comments about their meals and lunch breaks! Thank you folks, I know your comments are much appreciated by the midday supervisors (dinner ladies!)!!
The GOLDEN DUSTER this week goes to CLASS 1!
The winning house this week is: NEWTON with 48 points

SCHOOL CHAT!

FOT SPOT!
Following a successful ‘friendly football’ match last year, we are hoping to have it again this year on Saturday 25th May at 10am. Teams can be made up on the day, such as girls V boys, children V adults/teachers!! It is FREE to enter and all for fun!! Refreshments/BBQ will be on sale. There will be games such as spot the ball, raffle and more! It was a great success last time we did it and a lot of fun; however we do need some helpers! If you could come along to the next PTA meeting Thursday 8th May 3.15pm straight after school then that would be great, the children can come too, they can sit quietly (Mrs. Stainton wrote this!?!) while we make plans for a great day. If you can't make the meeting but think you can help for the Footy match then please let one of the committee members know or the school. Thank you very much for your time on this, but we do need to say that if we don’t get enough helpers it will be a shame as the event will have to be cancelled.

We are very pleased Miss Howden has joined us to cover Mrs. Greenfield’s maternity leave. Many of you may know her as she lives very locally! She delivered a dynamic lesson as part of the interviewing process and was scrutinised with questions from governors and pupils! All were unanimous in the decision to appoint her-we hope she enjoys her summer!!
We also have Mrs. Hurst who was equally as impressive at her interview, joining us in Class 1! Mrs. Hurst joins us in class 1 to support Mrs. Turner with the Foundation Stage and Year 1 and 2.

CONGRATULATIONS to Mrs. Greenfield who has had a baby girl!

Our training day went very well. All staff are trained in behaviour management and have Team Teach certificates. This is 95% de-escalation of potentially volatile situations with children and 5% positive handling. This is all done within current legislation and rarely occurs but is sometimes necessary for the safety of the child and people around. It was a very informative day and the tutor, Trevor Howe, made it great fun!
