WELL DONE THIS WEEK TO…

Cain Cadwallander in Class 1. Mrs. Turner says that Cain isn’t just reading because he has to but is also enjoying his reading! He is talking about it and getting really involved in it!

Eden Steltner is another one who shows a real enjoyment for learning and Mrs. Turner says she sets a very positive role model for others!!

Mr. Martin would like the whole of Year 3 and Year 4 to have a mention for their super assembly about the Second World War! The ‘freeze frames’ were a very interesting way to convey what they had learnt!

Miss. Howden says that Nicki Cragg, Billy Wallis, Henrietta Gillett and Amy Brakespear have been working incredibly well during the science afternoon! They were really impressive the way they worked as a team and as a result produced some super work!

Michael Johnson has been working with Mrs. Hurst in music and she was very impressed by his excellent rhythm and how hard he tried! Brilliant!

Mrs. Howitt has been cooking with Cherry Gilchrist and says Cherry’s scones were fantastic and much better than her own!! (Mrs. Howitt also says that she didn’t know Edward Chapman could juggle eggs!?! I’m sure there is a very interesting story behind that observation-but well done Edward for your ‘dexterity’!!).

Finally for today Alex Clark in year 5 has produced some super ‘persuasive’ homework!! His letter to Spilsby Theatre showed many of the features of a good persuasive text! Well Done Alex-and the effort you have put into your homework has really paid off in your class work!

Nicki Cragg and Amy Davies have their mention for their oral skills! They were able to present an argument with evidence and respond to questions very very cleverly-in fact the team they were debating with got just a little bit tied up in knots!! (Watch out the legal profession!)

The GOLDEN DUSTER goes CLASS 3 (Miss. Howden was specially named!!!)

SCHOOL CHAT!

FOTS MEETING:
Many thanks to Mrs. Cragg and Mrs. Stainton who were the only ones at the meeting yesterday, although I do understand there were a couple of apologies! If not for those same parents there would be no school events such as the summer fayre and if we can’t find more parents these traditional school events will come to an end which is sad as they are very much enjoyed by everyone who attends –and especially the children! So PLEASE support your school just for a few minutes and the odd afternoon or morning. EVERYONE has something to offer!

WELL DONE everyone for remembering their swimming kits on Fridays!!!
Mrs. Howitt and I attended the ‘Lets Get Cooking’ launch which releases funding for cooking equipment in schools (this will tie in with healthy schools-standards which all schools have to be awarded as having reached by the end of the year). It was a very good morning and we look forward to lots more delicious smells around the school! Again, if anyone would like to be involved in helping us reach the necessary standards for healthy schools status then please do get in touch!!!

Next week is SATS WEEK! This is primarily for Year 2 and year 6, however the rest of the school will be involved in assessments as we also administer optional sat papers in order to evaluate and measure pupils’ progress alongside teacher assessments. Parents evening to discuss your child’s progress is on July 2nd. but remember that if you do wish to discuss your child’s progress at any other time please do ring and make an appointment! Talking about your child does not have to wait for a formal parents evening!!

YEAR 6
For those who have enquired about SATs next week-these are administered to very strict guidelines laid down by the National Assessment Agency, including the script for the teachers to read to pupils before each test! We are not in a position to change any aspects of the timetable and papers have to be sealed and sent off –or collected-immediately after each test. This is all moderated and schools could have a visit to check they are following the correct procedures. Papers have to be kept in a locked cabinet, behind a locked door-and Mrs. Nicholson on sentry duty!! Whilst the outcomes of these tests are important it is only a picture of how good a child is on that day. Secondary schools always ask for reports of achievement throughout the year and we do meet to discuss each child individually! GOOD LUCK!
