WELL DONE THIS WEEK TO…

Tilly Wardenier in Class 1 for her excellent questioning techniques and always being so enthusiastic!! Mrs. Turner was very impressed!! Also in Class 1 Kane Fisher gets a sticker because he ‘always has an answer’!!! (In the most positive sense!!!) In Class 2 Mr. Martin says that the Year 3 group: Chloe Henman, Amy Broadbridge, Damion Clements, Leon Dean, Steven Cragg and Tia Devy are all brilliant at orienteering!!!! They had a super time whilst the year 4 group were out swimming with Year 5 and 6! All of Year 5 and Year 6 have a mention for their super assembly! They really did try hard but the best laid plans and such like-Year 5 got a bit of last minute stage fright and the year 6 experiments just did happen as they had done EVERY time in the classroom! But that’s show business for you!!! Well Done to them all for the effort they put into the preparation!! At lunch times Leo Seal, Charley bark, Damien Bark, Connell Minnican, Isaac Forrester, Rhiannon Forrester, Ryan Holland, Sophie Wallis and Eden Steltner have all been noticed for their good manners and keeping their area tidy! Well Done!!
GOLDEN DUSTER this week goes to Mrs. Hurst and the Foundation Stage!!
The House with the most points this week is: LADY JANE with 49

SCHOOL CHAT!

Miss. Howden has been on the Enterprise training and came back very enthused! Year 5 and 6 will be starting their ‘enterprises’ next term with a view to running their own ‘business’ for a week and seeing how much profit they can make! This year we are hoping to link with a school in Zambia, where they have very little in the way of educational resources, and enable others far less fortunate than ourselves to benefit from our enterprises!! Miss. Howden has visited Zimbabwe and I know colleagues who have recently visited Zambia and they have been very touched by the conditions in which these children make every effort to learn.

Staff and Governors have a training day on Monday June 2nd to consider and discuss school development. We have to have in place a school development plan which generally covers a period of three years but is continually being updated with new actions as the needs of the school change. As with a lot of schools we have a falling number on roll, as more year 6 pupils’ leave, and fewer children start in reception. As you know, our budget will inevitably be affected as this is set broadly in line with the number of pupils we have on roll, and therefore how the school is organised and managed. However, the Governors have plans for an open evening to keep you fully updated as well as a ‘Governor Newsletter’. If you want to know more about how a Governing Body works and be involved in the running of your school do join us! Vacancies for parent governors still exist!!!!

Key Stage 2 SATS are all done as are our school assessments. All data has to be sent to the Performance Management team at County Offices so that we can set our targets for next year and shortly, the year after that! We are then monitored through our Governing Body as well as our School Improvement Partner (SIP) to make sure that all pupils are making relevant progress.

HAVE A GOOD HOLIDAY!
